The 12 Tenants of a Paleo Lifestyle


#1 - Avoid Grains

Humans are NOT designed to digest grains such as wheat, corn, rice, oats, rye, barley, etc. 

This provides far more sugar than our body's can handle.

Generally, they were not consumed in the Paleolithic era.

#2 - Avoid Legumes

Legumes such as beans, lentils and peanuts are too high in phytates and lectins

(anti-nutrients) and were not consumed much in the Paleolithic era.

#3 - Avoid Sugars/Artificial Sweeteners

A major contributor to obesity and diabetes, sugar lacks nutritional value.

Artificial sweeteners are chemically processed from natural ingredients, 

but are NOT natural at all. Avoid these!

 #4 - Avoid Most Dairy

As humans grow, we lose our ability to digest most dairy.

However, fermentation makes dairy more digestible, as in plain yogurt and cheese.

#5 - Avoid Processed Foods and Chemically Altered Oils

Processed foods are NEVER a healthy option. The general rule is: the more convenient the food,

the less health benefits it likely provides.

#6 - Eat Non-Starchy Vegetables & Some Fruit

Eat a GREAT VARIETY of produce every day, with lots of vegetables

and some fruits. This should form the basis of every meal.

#7 - Consume Healthy Fats

Health fats are enormously important for human health

and optimal function. It's probably the most important macronutrient!

#8 - Consume Healthy Protein

Regardless of where your ancestors came from on this planet,

we all hail from carnivorous, hunter-gatherers ancestors.

Only choose protein from wild-caught fish & healthy animals, fed a natural diet.

#9 - Be Careful with Alcohol

Humans and other animals have been consuming alcohol in the form

of fermented fruit for thousands of years.

Red wine is best; just not too much.

#10 - Move More

Keep your body healthy with some long, slow distance for endurance,

short sprints to increase heart rate,

and some strength training to improve muscle mass.

#11 - Avoid the "Chronic Diseases of Civilization"

It is NOT normal for the human body to degrade in our older years and to ​develop the

chronic diseases of modern civilization.

#12 - Sleep Well and Develop a Sense of Peace in your Life


The average human requires 7-8 hours of normal, restorative sleep, 

cycling in and of REM and NREM sleep for optimal health.


Whether you call it spirituality or not, all humans need to understand our place in nature.

Create a life of inner peace through relationships and know your mind/body connection.
